Matt Holden's iRacing Stock Car Component Setup Guide - v1.05
This is a handout I developed for my Oval Crew Chief 101 class. In it, I break down each setting for the late model Monte Carlo SS as having a specific task. If you are having a specific issue, it guides you to a specific solution. This is an over-simplification, but it is a good starting point for those new to biulding setups. It guides you step-by-step through the process from start to finish. Ideas here can also be applied to the SK Mod and road course cars, as I use this approach for all the cars.

About the Sets
The goal with these sets is to provide a configuration that is both easy to drive and competitive. There is a saying, "loose is fast", and top drivers may be able to swing a very loose set, but if a driver ends up in the wall or spinning every third lap, they aren't even going to finish the race. Speed through consistencey is the name of the game. I've dropped the "Easy to Drive" label from some of the newer sets. In the case of the LM and SK, I now have more experience with these cars. I had someone mention that one of sets I made a little ways back was too loose for him, which made me realize I may not be the best judge of what is easy to drive at this point with those cars. Even so, they should still make for a good base and not require much work to tighten up.
Place the .sto files in the "C:\my documents\iRacing\setups\[CarName] directory for the appropriate car and then apply them to the car with the "My Setups" button in the iRacing garage.
The naming convention I use for the current sets is [vehicle] [track] MAC - [year].[season] [version].sto
